The Stage is Set
As I arrived at Tinker Field, the buzz of Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) 2019 was already in full swing. For three days, I had the privilege of being the lead photographer, tasked with capturing the heart and soul of one of the world’s most iconic music festivals. The air was alive with anticipation, and as the sun set over the neon-lit stages, I knew these three days would be unlike anything I’d experienced before.
Capturing the DJs: The Heart of the Show
One of my key roles was to record interviews with the DJs, giving me a rare glimpse into the minds behind the beats. Over the course of the event, I had the chance to talk with some of the biggest names in electronic music, capturing their pre-show moments of excitement and focus. These interviews added a layer of depth to the festival, revealing the passion that drives the performers.
On stage, the DJs brought EDC to life, their sets turning Tinker Field into a pulsating wonderland. As the lead photographer, I was positioned to capture those electrifying moments—whether it was a DJ’s triumphant fist pump after dropping a massive beat or the crowd’s collective roar of excitement. Each shot was a chance to immortalize the energy and raw emotion pouring from both the stage and the audience.
The Festival Goers: The Soul of EDC
While the DJs were the heart of EDC, the festival-goers were its soul. For three days, I wandered through the sea of colorful outfits, glowing accessories, and unfiltered joy. The crowds at Tinker Field were a photographer’s dream—each person radiating their unique energy, dancing freely beneath the laser lights and fireworks.
I made it my mission to capture not just posed shots, but the candid moments—the spontaneous laughter, the shared excitement, the quiet reflections in between sets. Whether it was a group of friends decked out in neon or a lone raver lost in the music, these snapshots told the story of EDC from the perspective of the people who make it so magical.
The Three-Day Journey
Each day brought its own set of challenges and rewards. From navigating the massive crowds to catching the perfect shot of pyrotechnics exploding in sync with a DJ’s drop, I was constantly on the move. But with each new day, Tinker Field transformed into an even more vibrant wonderland. As the festival progressed, the energy only grew, and my camera lens never stopped clicking.
Reflections on the Journey
Being the lead photographer for the three-day Electric Daisy Carnival at Tinker Field was an unforgettable experience. It wasn’t just about documenting an event; it was about capturing moments that would live on long after the last beat dropped. The DJs, with their electrifying performances, and the festival-goers, with their untamed joy, created a three-day world of music, color, and connection.
As I look back on those three days, I realize that EDC 2019 was more than just a festival—it was a shared experience, a celebration of music and freedom that I was honored to capture through my lens.
